Ben Morrett Earns Eagle Scout Rank

Ben Morrett of Boy Scout Troop 149 in Chariton received Eagle Scout Rank at a BSA National Court of Honor November 5th.  The ceremony was held at First Lutheran Church and Pastor Rich Gates gave the invocation.  Troop members served as Color Guard and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ben's Eagle Scout project was replacing fire rings in Red Haw State Park campground.  His original proposal was to replace ten, but he raised enough money to provide 22 new fire rings with attached cooking grills.  Ben had setbacks during the process, mostly weather related.  The 22 rings made a big improvement to the 22 campsites and they will have a long-term significance .  How many campers will benefit from these rings over 20 years of expected lifetime.
Scoutmaster Mark Richardson explained the major steps on the path to earning the rank of Eagle, and concluded by leading Ben and all other Eagle Scouts attending in reciting the Eagle Scout Promise.  He then asked Ben's mother to present him with his Eagle Scout medal by pinning it to his uniform.
Ben took a few minutes to thank Scout Leaders, fellow Troop members and family for their roles in helping him attain Eagle Rank.  Ben presented his parents with silver "Mom" and "Dad" pins for their years of encouragement and support, and gave gold "Mentor" pins to Mark Richardson and Tom Goddard to acknowledge and thank them for their lea
dership, motivation, advice and guidance.
