At an assembly at Chariton High School on May 5th, Chariton teacher Tyler Urich was presented with the
Professional Educator of the Year Award from the Professional Educators of Iowa.
Urich was unaware of the award until it was presented to him at the end of the assembly. Urich, 29, is the vocal music instructor for grades 6-12 in Chariton and is in his first year at Chariton. A native of Garner, Iowa, Urich has taught for just seven years. For the past six years he taught vocal and instrumental music at north Union Schools in Northern Iowa. Urich is single and lives in Chariton.
