New Principal at Columbus Elementary School

On May 2nd the Board of Directors of the Chariton Community School District approved Jamie Cranston as the new Columbus Elementary School Principal.
Jamie is currently a full time preschool coordinator for the Newton School District.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, an Early Childhood Endorsement, a Master of Arts in Education and Advanced Studies Certificate - all from the University in Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
The hiring committee for Cranston consisted of five staff members, five administrators, six parents, Superintendent Paula Wright, and Board members Dave Rich and Kellie Gookin.
Cranston and her husband, Jeremy, have a 3 year old daughter, Ireland.  Because early childhood is her area of expertise, she was very pleased when offered the opportunity to come to Chariton.
