To help out a great cause, runners toke part in the Hy-Vee 5K Red Bud Run/Walk Saturday, May 3rd, on the Chariton Square.
The Run/Walk is a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (DRP). The Hy-Vee Distribution Center, Hy-Vee Food Store and Midwest Heritage Bank and Insurance Services sponsored the event. It's the second year the event has been held in Chariton.
The race started on the south side of the square at 10:30 a.m. Registration began at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee was $20, due before May 1st. After May 1st or on the day of the race the entry fee was $25.
The age divisions included 13 and younger, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and older. Medals were awarded for the 1st-3rd place in each division for male and female participants. Trophies were awarded to the top three race times.
